History 1302 Exam One: Essay Question
In an essay that is no longer than three double spaced pages, draw on the information from class lectures and readings to answer the following question:
How did ordinary people fight for social justice in the period between Reconstruction and the 1920s? Your answer must examine the strategies ordinary people used to create change in at least three eras (some examples of eras you could explore: Reconstruction, the Gilded Age, The Era of Imperialism, The Progressive Era, World War I, the 1920s).
Your essay should include a clear thesis statement as well as specific historical evidence from the textbook, the documentaries and the primary source readings online. Be sure to draw from at least two primary sources in your essay. Additionally, make sure that you cite all of your sources using parenthetical citations. E.g. (Jourdon Anderson).
Please be sure to only draw on information from this class. Outside sources are not allowed.
