Break the following prose section below into lines (and stanzas) in two very different ways to make two poems, and then reflect on the effect of each version. Which words have been emphasized in which version? When are you highlighting sentence structure and when are you undercutting it? Is there a tone or mood in the prose that one version seems to capture best.
Include the two versions of the poem and the reflection/explanation. The word count of 400-600 words is based on the reflection only.
Here is the text to break up into lines and stanzas; just copy and paste it and then start making line and stanza breaks. Do not be too conservative/traditional!
The cows stand under the trees in the wet grass, lifting their necks to pull leaves down. We slow the truck, pull over to the side of the road to watch them. How graceful they look, how unlike themselves. We get out and lean on the fence. The cows don’t seem to notice we are there.
