? Include a graded writing component, which whenever possible is developmental (SALR 3)
? Demonstrate an understanding of diverse cultures within and across societies (FSLO 6)
Purpose: The reflection will present an example of communication in another culture. Terms
and concepts learned throughout the course will accurately represent and critically examine a
thoughtful explanation of a different view of life across culture. The reflection should include a
persuasive argument that includes a thesis that supports an argumentative appeal of fact,
value, or policy. You want to confirm that the culture is a fact of some example of cultural norm
or rules, language example of Sapir Whorf hypothesis, or gendered communication. In value,
you can demonstrate that the presented examples reinforce or depict the values presented
culturally or historically. Lastly, you can choose to present a policy. The observance of this
culture has preempted you to want to encourage a policy to maintain or protect the cultural
tradition or custom. Think about how you could present a law or rule that could be embedded
in a system (education, governmental, economic, etc.).
Audience: Your audience for this assignment is your instructor and your classmates. Although
your readers are familiar with the text, you should consider if there is need for definition or
review of concepts and consideration of the audience’s knowledge of the demographics,
geography, and history of the culture as these areas may be relevant in understanding.
