Guidance in the Structure of a formal academic research paper.
This is the information that you need to follow to complete a formal academic research paper:
1) The front page should contain:
The research paper title
The author’s name and student ID number
The code (POL104) and the name of the course
The date it should be submitted
The level of English language studied: ENG101, ENG102, ENG103
2) Include an ‘Abstract’ (around 150 words) – a summary of the paper’s content on the first page.
Type a minimum of five (5) pages – not including the front page or the References.
Write as much as your research information allows you to. There is no maximum page limit.
The front page, References and pictures/photos and graphs/tables are not considered as text!
3) Place a citation of each source at the end of each paragraph or information provided
e.g., (Wilson, 2017).
Four, five or six citations per page, so maybe fifteen to twenty sources in the References section
will show a decent level of research.
To research academic work you can type in the significant words of the topic and type pdf at the
end. Then you will find academic research papers on your topic:
e.g. genocide and human rights pdf
4) Add sub-section headings in bold in each separate part of your paper.
Do not put “Running Head” at the top of the page
Do not put “Body I:” or “Body II:” as the start of the sub-titles
5) I have placed several options of topics below here, but you can choose your own original
topic if you wish. Inform me of the topic so I can accept it as being relevant to the course.
6) Type in Times New Roman font in size 12. Use 1.5 line space.
8) The last page should be a list of References. Do not use Wikipedia in any circumstances!
The References should be listed in the A-Z order of the family name of the author or the
name of the organization. That is a basic rule of how all reference lists operate.
Do not just include a list of website www page links. You need to include the title in English,
or whatever the original native language is, whether it is a book, an academic article or
newspaper report, eg.:

9) Place page numbers on each page.
