Domestic violence can be in forms of physical, mental, sexual abuse and neglect. All kinds of abusive behavior are intentionally. Domestic violence also involves threats, verbal or physical attacks. Physical child abuse usually caused by their parents or caregivers which include shaking, kicking, biting. Bruise or wounds can easily found in child’s body. Consistent criticism or threats are consider as mental abuse which can impair child’s self-worth and emotional development. Neglect is parents or caregiver failure to provide children’s basic, educational, emotional and medical needs which put child’s safe and health at risk. In the long-term, child has abuse experience can result depression and self-esteem deteriorates. Same as child abuse, elder abuse also has some traces to follow. Family violence offenders are usually associated with childhood exposure to violence, mental illness and substance abuse ( Falkner,2018).Nurses need to be aware the signs and symptoms of abuse. As patient’s advocate, nurses have the obligation to protect their patients and need to report to authority for any suspect ion. In my facility, once nurses have the suspect ion about domestic violence, nurses need to brought it to the facility manager and social worker as well as medical director. Nurses work with multidisciplinary team to monitor and protest this victim Nurses also need to report it to relative authority like domestic hotline or 911 if the violence need to have immediate attention.ReferenceFalkner, A.(2018).
