A 10 year old male neutered Irish setter, named “O’Reilly” comes into CDI Veterinary Hospital with an entering complaint of anorexia for a week. You are at the front desk with the receptionist upon his arrival. Explain the process of addressing his needs from when he enters the door to when treatment is complete and he goes home 2 days later. Be sure to include: ? History taking ? Admitting process identification of the pet (if he stays) ? Examinations: initial, daily, discharge ? Record weight and assess appropriate feeding regime: calories, food type, frequency, amount ? Tests that need to run and other diagnostics needed (Research values and come up with a possible scenario of abnormal values and what they would indicate on the blood work/chemistry) ? Diagnosis ? Construct a patient treatment care sheet for the time patient is in hospital and record your findings and what was required in terms of treatment and record observations ? Highlight treatments and times meds and treatments are due/given ? Assess for dehydration and how that would be addressed ? Pet will go home with medication -help the Veterinarian dispense what meds are given and their frequency and duration ? Schedule a recheck in 2 days from discharge ? .Any additional inclusions appropriate to this case that you come up with. Present this at the end of class with your treatment chart and medical report in the patient’s file .
