Response ProjectThrough one of the  creative projects listed below, compare and contrast how exploration and/or first contact affected 2-3 power structures in the Americas, Africa, Europe, or Asia.  Include how things built upon or changed from the past.EXAMPLES might include: various mariners, human traffickers in Africa & Europe, the enslaved or “conquered” in the Americas,  individuals or groups who influenced (or were influenced by) the spread of Islam, Christianity, or other forms of religion, those who used “revolutions” in knowledge, culture, science, and/or military practices to build power, or those who “lost” something  as a result of increased interactions & growing empires.A 3-6 minute film (narrated w/slides or acted out): final submissions should include a copy of the script.An illustration (either a single image, a divided sheet w/2 contrasting images, or a collage of several images): final submissions should include a photo of the illustration AND a written explanation of its elements (i.e., what it expresses).An three-dimensional art project: final submissions should include a short video of the piece with a voice-over explaining its elements (i.e., what it expresses).A playlist of 8-10 songs that expresses the characteristics, issues, and/or forms of resistance of 3 different groups/individuals and/or various aspects of change or “progress”: final submissions should include printed lyrics with a  explanation of how each song expresses a point related to the topics its analyzing.A 16-24 line poem that expresses the viewpoints & experiences of at least 3 individuals representing different groups related to your analysis. Final submissions that employ symbolic language or have short stanzas should include another document that explains the use of the poem’s imagery or figurative language.Diary entries for two individuals representing contrasting groups (i.e., an indigenous American in a particular empire vs. an Atlantic European mariner OR a pirate w/a small Asian empire vs. a representative of Chinese dynasty that conquered his holdings). Final submissions should include at least 6 entries (3 per “person”) that are between 6-8 sentences long.Acceptable projects for groups of 3: 6 minute films w/each person responsible for 2 minutes of narrationCollage illustrations w/each person responsible for 2 illustrations in the collage9-song playlists w/each person responsible for 3 songsDiary entries for individuals representing 3 contrasting groups (rather than 2)–each person will be responsible for at least 3 entries between 6-8 sentences long.Acceptable projects for groups of 2: 5 minute films w/each person responsible for 2.5 minutes of narrationCollage illustrations w/each person responsible for at least 3 illustrations (and their explanations) in the collage8-song playlists w/each person responsible for 4 songs & their lyrics and explanationsDiary entries for individuals representing 2 contrasting groups–each person will be responsible for at least 3 entries between 6-8 sentences long.
