In an article last year, The Atlantic posed the following question to a group of thinkers:
what practice, idea, or commonplace belief do we have now that will one day be
considered anathema? We used to think the earth was the center of the universe, that
it was fine for children to work in factories and that it was fine for humans to own
others as slaves. What current practice in our society do you think will one day be
regarded as morally aberrant or problematic? And importantly, why do you think that
the practice will be regarded as problematic? What have other thinkers said in support
of or against your opinion? Think of the They say/ I Say template. What do we think
now, what do you think we’ll think in the future and why?
