Topic 1: Should taxes on people making over $250,000 a year be changed?
This topic has been the subject of controversy over the past few years. Some people feel
that the taxes for people earning an annual income of above $250,000 should be charged higher
taxes than they are currently paying as this will not hurt the economy (Huang, 2012). This could
help in meeting the growing need for government expenditure. In addition, this would be a way
of bridging the gap between the poor and the rich. Taxes are a major source of income for a
country’s economic growth (Gale & Samwick, 2014). The government, which is the major
audience here, needs to pass regulations to address this issue. People earning above $250,000 per
year can serve as a minor audience. Raising the taxes paid by the rich can serve to eliminate the
present political, economic and social problems in the United States.
Topic 2: Should Transportation Security (TSA) regulations be changed?
Transportation Security Administration (TSA) was established after the 9/11 attacks with
the mandate of ensuring that the country’s transport system is effective and strong enough to
minimize any such event in future (Transport Security Administration, 2017). In its quest to
protect the nation’s transport systems, TSA faces a number of challenges (TSA, 2015). The
effectiveness of the TSA has been questioned. There are numerous claims that this agency is not
up to date with the ever-changing world of terrorism. Therefore, the issues facing the TSA
regulations need to be addressed and appropriate changes made where necessary. The main
audiences here are the TSA and the U.S Department of Homeland Security. There is a need for
TSA and the relevant state department to discuss the problems in its regulations and make the
necessary changes.

Topic 3: Should regulations for home schools be changed?
Over the past three decades, parents and guardians have shown an increase in teaching
their children at home rather than sending them to a private or public school (West, 2009). The
rise in homeschooling cases across the country has been as a result of its legalization in all the
states. Studies have shown that children who are homeschooled in the absence of state
regulations are at a greater risk of being abused at homes (West, 2009). Considering the fact that
most parents may not possess all the skills required to train their children, regulations need to be
changed so that this and many other anomalies will be addressed (Covey & Covey, 2001). The
suitable audiences here are the state department responsible for education and parents practicing
homeschooling.
