Hello! This is an email to explain how to use your Amazon Web Services Hosting Space. As we’ve talked about
in class, you will be uploading your files to a directory to be able to access them from the internet!
Host name: ec2-54-83-84-108.compute-1.amazonaws.com
Username:
Password:
Port: leave blank
In order to login go to Filezilla or WinSCP CLIENT (or any other ftp host) and enter the information above
into the window (Entire FileZilla shown below).
This piece of software makes a connection between your computer and the web host. From here you
can easily upload your web files from your local machine onto the web server. ONLY PUT YOUR
PROJECT FOR CLASS ON HERE.
When you are done uploading your files hit the “disconnect” button shown in FileZilla below by the
orange arrow. Up close it looks like this
To upload the file, on the left side of the screen go to the file you want to upload, right click upload, and
it will upload into the directory shown on the left hand side. You can also drag and drop.
I have uploaded a file called test.html into your directory…check it out here:
http://yourhostnamehere/~yourusernamehere/test.html
To replace this file, just upload a new version of home.html
If you go to http://yourhostnamehere/~yourusernamehere/ you will see your entire directory. This is
where an image folder and database will be appearing soon!
Let me know if you have any problems!,
~Dr. Bahm
