Human Sex Trafficking
Human sex trafficking comprises of human trafficking for sexual slavery purposes.
According to a recent report by CNN, this practice is gradually increasing among the
American society and turning out to be the “modern-day slavery” in the United States
(Coorlim & Ford, 2017). The report further identifies the challenge as being more common in
the US soil than most other regions in the world. Some initiatives have been conducted in a
move to curb human sex trafficking by organizations such as the United Nations, Coalition
Against Trafficking in Women (CATW), and Soroptimist, among others. Surprisingly,
women and young children are among the most affected by this menace. FBI ranks human
trafficking as among the most prevalent issues in the United States in the 21st century
(Walker-Rodriguez & Hill, 2011). However, this issue can be resolved through the
elimination of the platforms that support its implementation. Notably, past initiatives have not
been as successful as it was anticipated mainly because, for human sex trafficking to stop, its
platform, which involves human trafficking, has to be tackled first. According to recent
studies, this industry is worth more than $32 billion in annual revenues and includes to the
upwards of 2.5 million individuals with a concentration in the central cities such as Atlanta
and Denver (Polaris, 2017; Soroptimist, 2017). In this regard, it would be ideal to set tight
migration policies in addition to massive fines, jail terms, and adverse repercussions that
would help in eliminating the trafficking of humans in any way.
Implementing the tight policies faces another challenge. Notably, it is hard to identify
human trafficking as an independent operation. Such policies would affect other people in the
immigration industry which are likely to be met by strong repulsion. According to an FBI
report on human sex trafficking, the practice is implemented by cartels in a highly
programmed and planned approach that is not easy to detect. These people masquerade
among legit travelers and can conceal their dirty practices through the use of drugs on their

victims, money enticements, and threats that ensure that the method is not easily identifiable.
If data from the United Nations report is to go by, implementation of strong policies will lead
to a huge success in the program (Soroptimist, 2017). Moreover, it would not only result in
the eradication of human sex trafficking but also the trafficking of people, drugs, and other
items such as ammunition since the cartel is known to be highly intertwined.
Other than tight immigration policies, it would also be necessary to create a national
campaign to educate the women on evading this menace by avoiding activities that put them
at risk. Social media is an ideal platform. However, intense government input would be
necessary to improve the efficiency of the program. Although it might be a challenge and
might take time, its integration in learning curriculum would help in reaching the highest
number of individuals and potential victims.

ORGANIZATIONAL POSITION
Introduction
The operations of any organization are controlled by either the federal or the state
governments. The governments have the mandate to pass legislations to organizations to safeguard
the well-being of all the stakeholders. Through careful consideration of the implications of the
given legislature, organizations can choose to agree with the legislation without fussing, or they
can decide to debut the requirements of the law.
In my position as the Polarisproject.org National Hotline Operations Fellow with the
responsibility of supporting people who are either victims or survivors of trafficking by offering
supportive work for the programmatic staff working with the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
In this position, I’m expected to work with the NHTH staffs that provide help to the people, who
have gone through human trafficking among other crimes. The position gives me the mandate of
working with local and national agencies fighting trafficking, the community members, law
enforcement officers, service providers, and students. Best practices in the service of human
trafficking victims and survivors.
The National Human Trafficking Hotline fully agrees with the legislation because it just
strengthens its mandate. The terms of reference of the NHTH are to progressively improve the
response to the nationals to protect them against any form of human trafficking adequately. The
legislation brought forward by the Polaris project requires that the government should give priority
to the efforts of eradicating any activities of human trafficking and protect those who have been
victims either in the USA or while outside the nation. We offer full support to the government by
providing anti-trafficking hotline service, provision of data standards and sharing, protection of all
the policies for the vulnerable populations and victims. The NHTH endeavors to work in line with

the legislation to improve protection for the victims, reduce the vulnerability of workers and to
give advances in the investigations of human trafficking.
The legislation press to fortify policies and the practices that go a long way into bringing
the modern slavery in the United States to an end. The legislation will be effective through the
NHTF contact center because it will be cost effective, readily acceptable by the general public and
will be politically friendly to other legislations. The NHTH is operated by Polaris and gets funding
from the Department of Health and Human Services. Its primary concern is to ensure a provide a
toll- free hotline which will be available always to ensure that proper information is given to all
potential trafficking victims among others.
Culture and diversity issues have an impact on the quality and the impartiality of the
services that are offered under the “ending modern slavery” slavery. The impact of culture and
diversity will be felt where different cultures perceive to certain things differently. For example,
there are communities that will see a particular action as a form of human trafficking while another
will see it differently resulting in a conflict.
The organization is concerned with the legal and ethical matters of human rights and
dignity protection. The NHTH seeks to provide information to those that have been through any
trafficking or those that are at inherent risk of being subjected to trafficking. It offers services that
allow them to pass or seek any information that they need.
The legislation can be redesigned in a way that will address the problem of human
trafficking for different communities. The restructuring can be achieved through the establishment
of various subsections of the NHTF each addressing people with a particular culture. The
ORGANIZATIONAL POSITION
legislation can further address legal and ethical concerns by listing all the forms of human
trafficking and the penalty for each. By doing those who have been through molestation of any
kind and those who are in potential risk will be able to know the rights bestowed on them.
Conclusion
The National Human Trafficking Hotline agrees with the legislation details to control
human trafficking in the United States, and it offers full support in ensuring that the community is
served well. The NTHT agrees to support the legislation by thorough analysis that shows the
legislation as being helpful, feasible and viable.
