Mass Media Messages and Effects Topic
In the mass media messages and effects paper, this week my goal is to come up with a
topic of interest. I cannot believe it took me about three days for figure out what would be the
best topic for me. I wanted the subject to be up close and personal with me and my life. I have
chosen to analyze how shared media effects the lifestyle and behaviors of Generation X,
millennials, and generation Z. The advancement of cell phone innovation in such a brief span is
remarkable. The effect of online networking, while it intertwines with the mobile phone is
something that has made a significant difference in the use of social media.
The adolescent of the world is regularly the most prepared to adjust to and figure out how
to utilize new advances, and they are positively at the cutting edge of web-based social
networking of different types. Online networking influences their everyday lives for good and for
bad. The web-based social networking sites like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat,
YouTube, LinkedIn, and Google are making it substantially less demanding for individuals to
discover each other and reconnect, even following quite a while of being separated (Egan, 2016).
We also know that all the social media sites have many purposes and use that people of all ages
can share.
I have a 15-year-old son, who has a 16-year-old girlfriend, and together they teach me
many tricks to using social media. It will still take me a few days to figure things out on the sites,
and most teens figure it out within a few minutes. The generation today may struggle in the
classroom learning word history, but you give them any device they can connect it, program it,
and use it at the snap of a finger. As parent or guardians, it is imperative to ensure that online
networking and gaming do not consume our youth.
