Jesuit Core Values and Organizations
Your readings this week provide background in the development of research on organizations, written by leaders in the field. “Foundations of the Theory of Organization” by Philip Selznick gives background on the perspectives behind organization theory and behavior, whereas “The Proverbs of Administration” by Herbert Simon offers insight in the differences between proverbs and research on organizations.

One particular reading, the piece by Fr. Kolvenbach (See Attached file above), provides a context for your graduate studies at the University of San Francisco with a discussion on the core values found in Jesuit Higher Education (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.. In your study of specific organizations, you will found the question of what core values drive that organization—often expressed in a mission statement—to be a powerful way to increase your understanding of a particular organization
