The teaching strategies used in our group are lecture, role playing, and gaming and poster board.
Together they will understand the meaning of Hypertension, how to prevent it, signs and symptoms
management and complications. Hypertension is also known as the “silent Killer” meaning most who
have do not even know it unless the monitor their Blood pressure regularly. This teaching strategies is to
help prevent hypertension and also if they are already diagnosed with it, we will teach them how to
manage it.
The lecture will explain what HTN is; the normal and abnormal ranges of HTN, signs and
symptoms and how to manage it to prevent further complication. The poster board will have visual
stimulation so the audiences are able to see the signs and symptoms and the diet management. What
they need to avoid eating and what is good for them to eat.
The Role play will incorporate a life scenario of 38 years old African American female who has
been diagnose with pre-hypertension. The scenario will target on how to prevent , manage and possible
complication of hypertension.
The game played with the audience is jeopardy. To begin playing Jeopardy first the rules need to
be explained to the group. After the rules are clearly explained the group will split into two teams. Once
the teams are established the first team will start by picking a category and a point value. We then will
read the question for the category and point amount, the team has 15 seconds to collaborate together,
if they choose the wrong answer or cannot answer the question, the opposing team can then steal the
question and if answered correctly within the 15 second time frame will be awarded the points. If the
opposing team gets the question wrong then the answer will be read and no one will receive points.
Then the next team will pick a category and a point value, this will continue until all the point values and
categories are gone through. The team with the most amounts of points will win and receive a price. the
game is to evaluate if they understand everything presented to them.
The group that was targeted was 20-40 years old
