3. Calculate your Grade in ENGR 101
Directions: Create an excel sheet that shows your calculated weighted average for ENGR 101. Use the rules for grading
(shown below and also found in the syllabus). Please include the following information.
1. Name, class CRN #, title of homework assignment at the top of the excel sheet.
2. Type in all of the grades you have received thus far AS PERCENTAGES.
3. Put all grades into its respective category (best if you create columns for each of these). It will say which
category it belongs to in My Grades, right under that assignment name. Note, we will not be counting Academic
Enrichment or Collegiate Engagement for this assignment.
a. Assignment
b. Quiz
c. Project 1
d. Mid-term exam
4. Calculate an average assignment grade (all equally weighted) (MUST USE AVERAGE FUNCTION) check to make
sure your grade is the same one in eCampus.
5. Calculate an average quiz grade (all equally weighted) (MUST USE AVERAGE FUNCTION) check to make sure your
grade is the same one in eCampus.
6. Calculate your Mid-term grade (given in eCampus, so this you can just type in w/o a calculation)
7. Use SUMPRODUCT to determine your Project 1 grade. These are the percentages according to the project
description in the Project 1 folder in eCampus.
a. Individual Design = 20%
b. Model Testing = 20%
c. Oral Presentation = 20%
d. Technical Report = 40%
8. Use SUMPRODUCT to determine your weighted average. These are the percentages according to your syllabus.
a. Assignments = 20%
b. Quizzes = 10%
c. Project 1 = 10%
d. Mid-term exam = 10%
e. ** Remember that the value you get after you calculate the weighted average is out of (20+10+10+10,
which are the percentages above). So if you are getting a grade that doesn’t make sense, you need to
make sure that you divide by 50.
9. Clearly mark your final grade as a percentage
10. Clearly indicate the letter grade that corresponds to that percentage, using an IF Statement like the one
practiced in “Learning Excel Homework.”
11.
IF YOU JUST TYPE IN VALUES WITHOUT USING FORMULAS TO CALCULATE
AVERAGES AND YOUR WEIGHTED GRADE, YOU WILL RECEIVE A ZERO FOR
THE ASSIGNMENT (I am referring to steps 4-9 here). I know those values are
given in eCampus but I am leaving those there so you can check your work.
12. Neatness, professionalism, organization (gridlines, organized, easy to look at, answers labeled, followed all
directions… etc.)
How to submit: Please submit the excel sheet you used to calculate your weighted average via eCampus. Submit as .xlsx
and NOT as a pdf.
